I'll never forget how Joe Polchinski helped me navigate my studies during my college years. After my freshman year, I earned a spot on Team USA and eventually won a gold medal in Women's Ice Hockey in the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. Despite having to take a full year off from my studies because of training for and competing in the Olympics, I was able to catch up on my coursework and graduate from college on time with my class thanks in large part to Joe Polchinski's support, commitment, and flexibility.
